If you still live in hope that one day you’ll find a Golden Ticket inside your bar of Dairy Milk, we’re here to tell you that it’s finally time to let that childhood fantasy go. But not because we want to quash all your hopes and dreams with one strike of our tiny fist, oh no. It’s because we’ve found something way better than a sugar filled factory.
A makeup factory…where there’s no greedy German boys spoiling all the fun.
Barry M opened the doors to their UK makeup factory and invited us on a behind the scenes tour, so we could see exactly how our favourite products are made
With this one machine, Barry M make 6,000 lipsticks every single day. They do that by melting 15kg of solid lipstick (yes that is the same amount as your airplane luggage allowance) and injecting it into silicone moulds.
Once the hot melted lipstick is inside the mould, it’s instantly cooled in order to form the bullet shape before being transferred from the mould into its packaging. In a process that we could literally watch for hours on end.
At any one time Barry M have enough nail polish on site to fill around 2 million bottles, which is great for us Nail Paint addicts, but slightly stressful for their health and safety officers.
Barry M fill and cap 20,000 nail polish bottles a day and trust us when we say the process is more mesmerising than peeling off your iPhone screen protector.
If you thought you were great at multitasking, this machine can produce 6,000 concealers and liquid lipsticks every single day.
But the cutest thing is the little slide they get thrown down.
Now, if only they had a highlighter river we could swim in…
