2017 CFDA Fashion Awards - Winners Walk

It’s hard for a guy to stand out at the CFDA Awards; the red carpet summons every It-girl and catwalk legend on planet earth and let us tell you, they arrive ready to flex. But there are always a few stylish gents who class it up in beautiful suits or swerve hard with their outfit and get noticed. Here are six such gentleman from this year’s red carpet, and how they decided to show their style for the event.

Whether you’re at a fashion event or your favorite restaurant (even the dingy one), black is always the right choice as far as we’re concerned. Especially when you use it to stand out, instead of blend in. For Off-White visionary Virgil Abloh at the CFDA Awards that meant an old-school crewneck and pants that pooled around his feet. For actor Armie Hammer it was all about a sharp suit with big peak lapels and some velvet shoes. Both worked great.

It is a good time to be a guy who likes an untraditional suit. Bold colors like olive green, and maximalist labels like Gucci, are leading the sartorial pack right now, giving traditional tailoring a run for its money. Think you’ve got what it takes? Just follow the lead of these two gentleman above at last night’s CFDA Awards and keep the fit of the suit slim, the pant length short, and the shirt a sober, solid color in order to pull off the look.
